What Is a Psalm Sound Bath?

A Psalm Sound Bath is an opportunity for renewal and peace. As you recline comfortably, passages from the Psalms are read aloud, and then the layered tones of the crystal singing bowls fill the room, inviting deep calm, serenity, and quiet prayer.
It’s a simple invitation to slow down, breathe, and let God’s Word settle into your heart.
Where the idea comes from
The Psalms were written to be sung. They were the prayer book and hymnal of ancient Israel, and many were written by David, a shepherd and musician whose playing on the lyre brought relief to King Saul (1 Samuel 16).
“Be still, and know that I am God,” Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
What happens during a session
We begin with a short welcome.
You settle in, lying on a mat or resting in a chair, whatever is most comfortable.
I guide you through a brief body relaxation meditation.
I read selected Psalms, chosen specifically for your group.
I play the crystal bowls, while you reflect in silent prayer.
We close gently, with a few moments to sit up, reflect, and return to the day.
There’s nothing you need to do or know ahead of time. You simply rest and listen.
“He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul,” Psalm 23:2-3 (NIV)

What a Psalm Sound Bath is not
A Psalm Sound Bath is rooted in the Christian faith. The peace comes from God and His Word. The bowls simply create a calm, beautiful space to receive it. There’s no chanting, energy work, or anything you’d need to “believe in” to take part.
Who it’s for
All are welcome. You don’t need to be a Christian or a churchgoer to attend. Many guests come simply to rest and reflect, and the Psalms speak to anyone who has ever felt weary, anxious, grateful, or in need of comfort.
Psalm Sound Baths are a lovely fit for:
Church small groups and women’s ministries
Bible studies and prayer groups
Friends and family gatherings
Holiday get-togethers and retreats
Anyone needing a quiet reset
Where sessions take place

I currently offer private group sessions across Long Island: in your home, at your church, or in my private space in Commack. In the summer, I also hold beach sessions in Long Beach.
“Truly my soul finds rest in God,” Psalm 62:1 (NIV)
